Our Special Programs

In addition to our wonderful curriculum, we offer a variety of Enrichment Programs to enhance your child’s learning at Lil’ Explorers.

Kindermusik:

Kindermusik is a music and movement program that is developed for each stage of a child’s development.   This program provides activities that stimulate children’s minds, bodies, and sense of play.  Kindermusik incorporates early literacy and language into music.  We offer three Kindermusik levels that are geared to accommodate toddler and preschool classroom developmental needs.  The music program incorporates songs, instruments, stories, activities and music from all around the world to nurture kids’ budding creativity!

Technology:

The technology program is a nine month series of lessons that preschool teachers implement in their classrooms.  Our gitsSmart Early Tech Program is based on the Minnesota StateStandards-featuring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) components.  The technology curriculum is further enhanced with tablets, computers, computer parts, and vocabulary cards to provide our children with the hands-on learning to complement the technology fundamentals being taught.

Fitness:

We use a combination of two fitness curriculums that the State of Minnesota has encouraged preschool and school-age programs to implement.  Our two programs are: IMIL (I am Moving I am Learning) and CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health).  Both programs are designed to help promote physical activity and healthy food choices for young children.  The programs encourage and motivate children to walk, run, jump, dance, and move their whole body while playing and having fun!

Spanish:

Beginning in preschool, children are introduced to basic words in the Spanish language.  Each month the Spanish program is based around a theme (i.e. numbers, colors, greetings, body parts, etc.).  New words are introduced using fun picture cards, games, songs, and books.  We highly encourage everyone to attempt to pronounce the Spanish words although many children (especially under 3 years of age) will not be able to pronounce the words easily or at all.  However, simply the exposure of a foreign language can have cognitive and academic benefits.

Nutrition:

LANA is an iguana that loves to eat fruits and vegetables!  The goal of LANA (Learning About Nutrition through Activities) is to help young children learn to taste, eat, and enjoy more fruits and vegetables in order to promote good health.  Each month the preschool classrooms will focus on a new fruit or vegetable with weekly cooking projects and snacks that the children get to make and enjoy.  Along with each cooking project they will learn about the fruit or vegetable through fun activities and the LANA program puppets.  Every week each child receives the recipe card to take home that lets them mark if they enjoyed the recipe or if it was not their favorite.  This gives you the opportunity to see what foods they are trying and to speak with your child about healthy eating.
